Goals
In 1997-1998,
we identified issues to be addressed for the long-term improvement
of the watershed, and to the benefit of local communities. These
issues, along with goals, objectives, action strategies, and progress
indicators are discussed in detail in the Monday Creek Comprehensive
Management Plan.

Goals for the Monday Creek Watershed
- To
reduce acid mine drainage pollution in the Monday Creek watershed
in order to attain the highest possible aquatic use designation.
- To
increase public participation in, and awareness of the Monday
Creek Restoration Project and it's goals.
- To
promote the sustainability of communities in the Monday Creek
watershed.
- To
preserve and enhance a healthy, functioning riparian corridor
throughout the Monday Creek watershed.
- To
reduce NPS pollution from sediment in the Monday Creek atershed
in order to attain highest possible aquatic use designation.
- To
support efforts that reduce the damaging effects of flooding.
- To
reduce the volume of illegally dumped trash, and to clean up
existing litter and dump sites throughout the watershed.
- To
reduce the amount of untreated sewage entering the streams of
the Monday Creek watershed.

create an integrated land management strategy.
- To
increase the species diversity and abundance of fish and other
aquatic organisms in the streams of the Monday Creek watershed
by improving stream habitat quality.

encourage and promote sustainable forestry and logging practices
in the Monday Creek watershed.

increase the availability, quality, and quantity of recreational
opportunities within the Monday Creek watershed.

reduce NPS pollution from agricultural activities in the MCW
in order to attain the highest possible aquatic use designation.
